Sunflower Oil:

Is the non-volatile oil compressed from sunflower (Helianthus annuus) seeds and is commonly used in food as a frying oil, and in cosmetic formulations as an emollient. Sunflower oil was first industrially produced in 1835 in the Russian Empire. The world's largest sunflower oil producers now are Ukraine, Russia and Argentina.

Healthy, natural sunflower oil is produced from oil type sunflower seeds. It is light in taste and appearance and supplies more Vitamin E than any other vegetable oil. It is a combination of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats with low saturated fat levels.

The oil content of the seed ranges from 22 to 36% (average, 28%): the kernel contains 45–55% oil. The expressed oil is of light amber color with a mild and pleasant flavor; refined oil is pale yellow. The versatility of this healthy oil is recognized by cooks internationally and is valued for its light taste, frying performance and health benefits.

There are three types of sunflower oil available; Nusun, linoleic and high oleic sunflower oil. All are developed with standard breeding techniques. They differ in oleic levels and each one offers unique properties, but they meet the needs of consumer and food manufacturers alike for a healthy and high performance non-transgenic vegetable oil.  ...back
